Does God Remember Your Repented Sins?
By Mark Flippo
Above is a photo of in old times when the wayward son came home the father would run out to meet him and forgive him for running away, no matter the reason. The bond between a father and son is wonderful. Some sons do please their parents. Others are a challenge! I said all that to make this point.
Isaiah 43:25 MSG
"But I, yes I, am the one who takes care of your sins - that's what I do. I don't keep a list of your sins.
Isaiah 43:25 ESV
“I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.
What I have given you is the same scripture from two different translations. The Message Bible helps it to be clearer. In America we have a western understanding of the scriptures. It is not always right. When you study, study from a disciples view. Eastern countries have a different viewpoint into the way they thought back about two thousand years ago, when Jesus walked the Earth. I have given you that to help us know that God does not hold anything against us that is repented of and put under the blood. He can forget but does He?
God kind of slipped into my room while I was trying to go to sleep. Anybody else have the problem? Pray for me. Back to what I started to say is that HE asked me the question that is the lesson title. I replied, why on earth are you asking me, your God? God has a sense of humor, but He wants everyone to know more about Him!
He says in scripture that you are free from those sins that are repented of. He does not keep a laundry list of your past sins. He could but does not.
Did I hear a few sighs of relief out there? We can all Thank our Heavenly Father that He loves us that much to always be willing to forgive us of our sins! Get them under the Blood. How you do that is after you have completely repented (means not doing the same sin again), ask Jesus to cover your sins with His Blood because that is what He died for. You must leave that shame of that sin behind you. Don't go there again! Don't swear again. Whatever you repented for, make a conscience decision to not to do any of that again. Ask God to help you.
He will be thrilled to do that for you. When you come to God some things He delivers you from fast but other things, He makes you work for complete deliverance. He wants you to understand walking the Christian walk is not a free ride. You must do some of the work. You are not a puppet with Jesus! Go to work on yourself ASAP!
