Different Fathers
By Mark Flippo
1 Corinthians 4:14-16 (MSG)
I’m not writing all this as a neighborhood scold just to make you feel rotten. I’m writing as a father to you, my children. I love you and want you to grow up well, not spoiled. There are a lot of people around who can’t wait to tell you what you’ve done wrong, but there aren’t many fathers willing to take the time and effort to help you grow up.
Matthew 23:9-10 (MSG)
“Don’t let people do that to you, put you on a pedestal like that. You all have a single Teacher, and you are all classmates. Don’t set people up as experts over your life, letting them tell you what to do. Save that authority for God; let him tell you what to do. No one else should carry the title of ‘Father’; you have only one Father, and He’s in heaven. And don’t let people maneuver you into taking charge of them. There is only one Life-Leader for you and them—Christ.
I am sorry to say so many children grow up without Fathers. They are very important, even though some do not understand it that way any more. If you find someone that is a Godly leader that your children respect, make sure you check them out in the spirit. If they are true, work with them and allow your children to be encouraged by them. Love!
