How Would You Do?
By Mark Flippo
How would you do if a disaster hit your area where you live?
Have you been in a disaster recently? Have you been hit by an earthquake, wildfires, floods, hurricanes, and so many others to many to name? If you have, you know exactly how it feels to have everything ripped away from you.
You've lost photos that you can never replace. Things that have been passed down in your family that are one of a kind. Maybe things you have kept that had sentimental value, like things your kids made for you when they were little. I understand. My wife and I lived close to the Missouri and Mississippi rivers when the 500-year flood hit St Louis and surrounding areas. We had two feet of water. It was sad.
Many neighbors' homes the doors fell off because the humidity was so bad it was raining inside their homes. Some it moved their homes off of the foundations. It was a great time of sadness.
You know how it is, you just pick yourself up and take your big boy and girl pills and move on. Throw out what is no good and do a lot of cleaning. Until you have been tested in a tragic situation you can never understand someone who has gone through one. You learn to accept kindness from strangers and organizations. Anytime you hear of anyone else having tragedy in their lives your heart goes out to them as well as your wallet and prayers!
