The Lesson That Popcorn Taught Me!
By Mark Flippo
Before it is popped into a delicious handful, every kernel looks the same. After the heat is applied and changes it from the inside out! Then it becomes lovely and smells so inviting how can you resist. Each kernel looks so different from each other. Now add some butter and you have a great snack.
INTERESTING POPCORN FACTS
1. Popcorn can grow to be 30 times its original size when it pops
2. Sometimes, after popcorn has finished popping there are still unpopped kernels remaining. These kernels do not pop because they don’t have enough moisture within them to create enough steam for the explosion. These unpopped kernels are known in the popcorn industry as “old maids.”
3. An average American eats almost 70 quarts of popcorn every year, and Americans consume approximately 17.3 billion quarts of popcorn annually! That’s a lot of popcorn!
4. Nebraska grows the most popcorn, having over ¼ of the national production of popcorn. Other high popcorn-producing states include Ohio, Illinois, and Missouri.
5. At Popcorn for the People, popcorn is not only a delicious snack, it is the tool which helps to empower adults on the autism spectrum and with other developmental disabilities through empowerment! Every 3 bags of popcorn is equivalent to an hour of meaningful work for someone on the spectrum.
Now for the spiritually applied part. So many that call themselves Christians, look the same a lot. When heat is applied to your life you get stirred up internally and in this case spiritually. You pop out of your shell and it shows others who truly lives inside of you. From time to time unlike popcorn you can go through several times of heating.
OH the pain. I should be perfected by now but I still need a lot of work changing ideas and notions to be truly saved. Every part of me. Love and Prayers. We all need more prayers than we will receive at times. By the way please pray for God's will be done in my life. I need to get rid of some old thinking!
