Praying Together
By Mark Flippo
Colossians 4:2 (ESV)
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.
1 Peter 3:7 (ESV)
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
Strong bonds between a husband and wife are worked on not just given automatically. It is a daily effort to Love past the physical into the emotional part of your soul. When trouble comes and it will, don't put blinders on and act like everything is OK. It will not be at the time. You must turn to Jesus to help you both heal and move past this point of contention. Trying to solve it on your own is like throwing gas on a fire.
Explosions will proceed.
Pastors can be helpful but the work must be done by both of you. All of the good advice is just that, it is only advice it is not the glue you need to have to continue on as one. Sadly most downfalls occur because one or more of the married partner's wants to act like they are single. Your entire thinking must change. Think of your partner's wants and wishes over your own. Men be prepared to say you're sorry.
Even if you were right in what you said you most likely did not have the right attitude when you spoke to her. They are very tender in heart even if they put up a brave front. Love them with all of your heart not with just what you have between your legs. Sorry ladies but it is true!
