God Commanded Them To Multiply
By Mark Flippo
Genesis 1:28 (KJV)
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Adam and Eve did as the Lord commanded. They began their family in the Garden of Eden. Then sin came in and they lost the most beautiful place to raise a family! Being Fruitful means being abundantly productive. Multiply means breed.
Replenish means to fill or build up again. God has used three words to explain to Adam and Eve what He wanted from them. They were given a task by God Himself. When God speaks to you listen and do as instructed.
Most everyone has heard that it was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. We must be careful about every scripture that we understand it right. Too many rush through and only get half of the meaning. Make yourself aware of the principle of first mention. In studying when you read a part that is a little confusing go back to the first time it is mentioned in scripture and you may get a better picture of what our God is trying to help you understand. Most times it will bring you back to Genesis.
