What Does 1 Corinthians 7:14 Mean?
By Mark Flippo
1 Corinthians 7:14
“For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.”
We just had a study about this very topic on Friday night. Most did not understand this at the beginning. The easiest way to explain this, is this way. Sanctification is different than salvation. Consider this. Noah's family was sanctified by Noah. They were saved physically but their relationship with God was personal. It did not mean they were saved spiritually. The same with Lot.
His wife and two daughters were saved physically from the destruction but their souls were another matter. Lot's wife soul was determined by her turning around and being lost. If the wife is sanctified then the children and the husbands prayers can be heard by God. If neither are sanctified God is not required to listen to their prayers because He is not their Father! You must have both to make it to Heaven. You must be sanctified and saved to be with Jesus! I hope it is a little clearer now than it was to you.
