The Spiritual Teeter-Totter
By Mark Flippo
This is a good thinking lesson! “A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from above” (John 3:27). “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30). Teeter-totter theology!
Most of what we find in the Bible is designed to comfort and encourage us. But there are a few texts that are meant they are there to wake us up and shake us up. These are the “no-holds-barred-take-no-prisoner” sort of texts. But these texts are there for our good. They were put there by God for two reasons. First, they are true. Second, they warn us of things that are a threat to our souls, both now and into eternity. That is why we simply cannot afford to ignore them.
So many are on one end of the teeter while there are a bunch on the other end! Surprisingly enough there are those in the middle! You can decide for yourself with God's place where you are at. Some have little Truth on the one side and those with more direction from God on the other side! In the middle are the many religions that know a little about God. God puts everybody on their own path to Him. Please do not judge others on the way that God is taking them. Each of us have had a slow way to our Father in Heaven! Where are you on this teeter-totter of life? God, please continue to lead my wife and I to opening our hearts to share with others your will and words Jesus!
