Little Girl Dreams
By Marian Flippo
In Ecclesiastes 3 1-8 MSG
There’s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth:
2-8 A right time for birth and another for death,
A right time to plant and another to reap,
A right time to kill and another to heal,
A right time to destroy and another to construct,
A right time to cry and another to laugh,
A right time to lament and another to cheer,
A right time to make love and another to abstain,
A right time to embrace and another to part,
A right time to search and another to count your losses,
A right time to hold on and another to let go,
A right time to rip out and another to mend,
A right time to shut up and another to speak up,
A right time to love and another to hate,
A right time to wage war and another to make peace.
How many little girls dreamed of their prince charming and their dream wedding? Fairy tales are just that man-made tales. Tales that are not true but birth an imagination of unrealistic dreams of fiction. That after marriage all is beauty and you sail off into the sunset - happily ever after. Very admirable but not plausible.
Life gets in the way! The above scriptures in Ecclesiastes says it best. There is a time for everything..even those things that are unpleasant but necessary. We realize that through FAITH, we are given the ability to experience the many avenues of this journey.
We receive the great opportunity from the Lord to embrace those things that are seemingly imperfect to mature and hopefully comprehend exactly what this gift of life really is.
So what I am saying is that these childish fairy tales cannot even hold a candle to the wonders of a life walking with the Lord Jesus. The Lord came so that we can have real and eternal life, a greater life than we have ever dreamed of. Now what does that really mean? No troubles! No heartaches! No pain! No---you get the privilege to be touched by the Hand of God in knowing that no matter what life brings your way, He will be with us and take us through.
This is what little girls should dream of because life should be cherished and not thrown away on things that are unreal.
Unrealistic goals and dreams that didn't come to fruition are nothing but teaching tools. I thank the Lord for His graciousness to me to understand and use those teaching tools for growth in perceiving what matters most is a true life in Christ. It has birthed more joy that I could have ever imagined.
I challenge you to change your thought patterns and allow the Lord to create in you an appreciation for a true life that you have never participated in before.
Now that is really what little girls should be dreaming of!
