If Only Roadwork Was Always This Short!
By Mark Flippo
How many Amen's can I get out there? Driving would be a breeze. No burning up a tank of gas while sitting still in traffic because of roadwork. There would be a big reduction of accidents because of a lack of distractions. Disappointingly this is not how our nation works. They will work on more than one main highway at a time. Moving lanes and closing the road totally from time to time. We live near St Louis and it is a wild place to live. Highways are kept in pretty good working order. They closed this major highway two years total.
On January 2, 2008, five miles (8 km) of the route in St. Louis was closed both eastbound and westbound from I-170 to I-270. It re-opened December 15, 2008 two weeks ahead of the originally scheduled date of December 31, 2008. On December 13, 2008, another five-mile (8 km) section of the freeway closed both ways from I-170 to the Kingshighway exit in the city. It was re-opened on December 7, 2009. The entire freeway is now open for travel, with the speed limit raised to 60 mph on most of the stretch. It is also now a full freeway all the way from Downtown St. Louis to Wentzville. When complete, the entire new freeway was signed as Interstate 64.
What has this to do with God? That is very kind of you to ask.
God is in charge of everything! He allows us to go through rough patches in everything we do. To make our lives better we must endure His blessings to be safer. If you never endure, you never appreciate what He has given you! Next time you are stuck in traffic because of roadwork, take time to Thank your Heavenly Father for His Love that is changing things that affect you daily!
