The 40 Day Journey
By Mark Flippo
Matthew 4:1-11 (NIV)
Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”
7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.”
Genesis 6:9 – 11 (Noah, The Flood, Babel)
After the raven's forty days of journeys Noah sent out a dove which returned, unable to find a branch of a tree upon which it could rest, ...
You may not find this interesting, however I did. I was looking over these two separate lessons, 40 mentioned. 40 means a time of testing and trial.
Boy is that ever present! At times it seems like I am being tested more than 40 days. Now how many of you feel that is happening in your life. I am glad for Jesus in my life! He is ever with me! Whatever is going on, God will help me through it! Hold on children of God He is there for you. Just pray until you feel a release. Your mind will then be able to rest! Halleluiah!
