Who Do You Pray To?
By Mark Flippo
If the concept of trinity is true that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are three Gods, can we pray to each of the members of the trinity? Should we only pray to the Father, or only pray to the "Son"? Jesus told us to pray to the Father in
Matt. 6:9 when He said, "Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name." When I was young I asked my teacher to explain the trinity to me. He did his best but at the end he said it is a great mystery. Sorry but that was confusing. I do not think that God would put something before us that we could not understand.
Matthew 28:19 (NIV)
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
I wanted to fully understand, so I asked God to help me. He began to help my thinking by having me think about my checkbook. I am a father but I can not sign my check with that title. I am my father's son but I can not sign my check with the word son. My name is Mark and I can sign with my first and last name. It was finally dawning on me that His name is Jesus but his titles are Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. I do many things but I only have one name. This is food for thought. Maybe this will help you understand. Being hungry to understand His Word is a pleasure any of His children will enjoy!
