I Don't Think This Works That Way
By Mark Flippo
Acts 2:38 - Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Mark 16:16 - He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Acts 22:16 - And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
John 3:5 - Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Baptism is an absolute necessity. You must repent and then be submerged in water to have your sins removed forever from you! It might not go over to well if we just dumped water on someone that was not ready for that.
A majority of translations, in both English and foreign version, prefer to transliterate the word “baptism,” or to translate it as “immersion” or “plunge.” A number of Greek lexicons give “dipping” or “immersion” as the primary meaning.
This is a wonderful blessing for those that surrender to Jesus and follow His Word about this subject!
