When Tragedy Strikes Our Children
By Mark Flippo
Therefore, since life is uncertain, “Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2).
Ecclesiastes 3:
1-To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
4-A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, ....
8-A time to love, ... and a time of peace.
Oh my God, how much is happening to our kids and around our kids today? It used to be more about adults harming children, boy has that changed. Kids killing kids! How horrible. It does not matter which side as a parent you are on. If your kids shot up a school and killed someone else's child,
how devastated you would be!
If you lost your child because another child their age came in and killed your baby, how do you recover from that? The teachers that have been teaching your children would feel like they failed somehow not seeing the signs of this looming disaster. I have not been near one of these kind of situations but it breaks my heart to see this go on.
I just have to cry my eyes out every time I hear of one child killing another one. Where have we failed as parents or a society? I can not help but believe that all of the violent video games have added to the problem greatly! Violent movies and TV programs are not helping any of us out either.
They can be entertaining, no one argues that, but what thoughts does it place in the mind of a minor? We have a lot of praying to do. We need to rethink what our kids are viewing. We just need to adjust our own thinking. Jesus help, we are dying and seem to have lost our way!
