Lust Kills
By Mark Flippo
By the way the Bible does not say an apple! You get the idea anyway.
James 1: MSG
15-Lust gets pregnant, and has a baby: sin! Sin grows up to adulthood, and becomes a real killer. 16-So, my very dear friends, don't get thrown off course. 17-Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle. 18-He brought us to life using the true Word, showing us off as the crown of all his creatures. 19-Post this at all the intersections, dear friends: Lead with your ears, follow up with your tongue, and let anger straggle along in the rear. 20-God's righteousness doesn't grow from human anger. 21-So throw all spoiled virtue and cancerous evil in the garbage. In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life. 22-Don't fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear!
For this lesson I used the Message Bible. I like King James but this translation helps to clarify this passage. He wants us to understand that He abhors (Hates) sin in any fashion. He works on lifting us out of the depths that we can find ourselves in. At times by accident. Other times we can be bullheaded. We want what we want! If you will let Him He will guide you your entire life. Please be open to His long arm of correction. Let His Love cover you and weed out what is displeasing to Him!
