What Has Aging Taught You?
By Mark Flippo
Listen to your father who begot you,
And do not despise your mother when she is old.
Buy truth, and do not sell it,
Get wisdom and instruction and understanding.
(Proverbs 23.22-23)
Looking back on my youth, I was not as smart as I thought I was. I remember one time I was working out as a teen with a smart mouth. I wanted to go into the steam room and the man in there said it was for adults. I just ever so smartly said "rules are made to be broken" and then I left. I could not shake the feeling of shame. My parents raised my better than that. That took me a long time to move past.
Thankfully, I have a little more Wisdom now days. I have gone through "The school of hard knocks". It has changed my perspective on so many things. I have apologized to Jesus on many occasions, like daily.
Please, I hope you have seen yourself in some form that you know you need to apologize. Jesus is always listening. Some have transgressed too far. Jesus, touch our minds and hearts to bring us all to repentance. Thank you for your patience with me. Please forgive me for all sins against you, others, and myself. Amen.
