Your Deadly Comfort Zone!
By Mark Flippo
Have you taken a good hard look at yourself in the mirror lately? I asked God to show me through His eyes! I looked in the mirror one day and did not like what I saw! It made it very hard to look into any mirror for a long time after that! I kept seeing the ugly side of me that I had to be delivered from! That was a rude awakening! But that is just what I needed! How about you are you willing to put yourself on God's chopping block so He can remove that ugly carnality from you. You will never get close to God until you do! If you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always got! So, the saying goes its true but not the best grammar! Think about that!
My wife and I come from a very large congregation where we were involved in a lot of ministries. From Bus Ministry to Deaf Ministry to Choir to plays and just about any place where the need happened. God impressed us to move to a smaller work. The first place we attended is where we met and were married and stayed there many years. The second work we were still involved in many things but slowly less!
We stayed until God impressed us to move to an even smaller work of God! Now they needed help in many areas from teaching Sunday School to Leading choir. Can you imagine me at an all-black congregation leading some wonderful people to sing the praises of God! It helped us both to loosen up a bit! I had so many bad situations from a place I worked at for 30 years that I needed to heal as much as to help others.
There was a wonderful black woman of God pastor named Sister C. Davis that loved us unconditionally. She shows forth the Love of Jesus in such a great way that I began to heal from all of the deep pain. I learned to respect her and value her guidance in our lives!
No matter who you are you are important and God has a place for you!
We had to get out of our comfort zones several times, but our insecurities were set right. It is not easy to change but if you want to mature you must find a way when God calls you will answer YES! Ask God to show you where He wants to use you and you might be surprised! He will lead you if you will follow!
Obedience brings satisfaction!
